The Blog Must Go On

Still feeling sad about the absence of Wellie.

But life goes on, and the idea for the blog was conceived before Welllie plunged out of her nest and into our lives.  So, I'm going to put up a few pictures that not only reflect life day-to-day on Maniac Mountain, but also, that simply make me happy.

Hug a hen.  They're very soft - and sometimes sweet - like Holly, our Prairie Rock Hen.

  1. Jacqui,

I've been absent from Facebook for most of the summer, and thus missed the (possible) ending to the Wellie story. I remember fondly when my mother would hand raise baby hummingbirds that fell out of the nest and how they would return to visit us for a few days after venturing outside, or sometimes for years. The happiness of giving those little lives a chance definitely outweighed the sadness of not ever really knowing the outcome; however, I do remember and empathize with your sadness. On another note, I was delighted to find that in my absence from Facebook, you've started a blog! I've always felt that you were the next Erma Bombeck with your interesting family life, quirky and fun viewpoint about it, your acerbic sense of humor, and your fantastic writing. I am SO looking forward to reading this blog for years to come!
